Sustainability Management Plan

Sustanable Supply Chain
Underpinned by sustainability, the Rio 2016 supply chain programme ranges from the mapping of demands to the disposal of used materials, as well as planning hiring, logistics and operation. Demands are planned and communicated in advance in order to promote capacity building at new companies, and no item is bought unless its final disposal has been considered.
Planning:

Procurement Portal
Built on the pillars of transparency and social, economic and environmental sustainability, the PROCUREMENT PORTAL is the main tool tought which the organising committe interacts with the supply market. On this portal, it is possible to consult the purchasing plan, updated monthly with all of Rio 2016´s current and future demands, track the progress of each contract, and apply to participate in purchasing process.
Supplier Selection Process
Rio 2016 is a private association and in all of its contracts it follows a transparent process to select suppliers, based on international best practices, in which more than on proposal must be evaluated.
All process follow the flow shown below, in which the legal, financial, technical and commercial criteria of each proposal are examined:

If the minimum number of three technically approved proposals is not reached, the organising committe will extended the proposal submission deadline and contact registered potential suppliers. If, despite this, no other company submits a proposal, the process will continue with only the previously approved proposals
