President’s Letter

When Brazil proposed to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games, bringing the event to South America for the first time in its history, the ambition not only to stage the Games but to hold them in a transformative way was clear.

Among the transformations are those of a physical nature: the change in urban mobility in the city of Rio de Janeiro, new sporting equipment, the makeover of the Barra, Deodoro and the port regions.

But arguably the greatest ambitions can be found in the intangible: the capacity of Brazil to deliver such a complex task within its deadline and expected budget, all with the renowned joy of the Brazilian people. In this context it is essential we are able to prove that we are capable of delivering complex transactions without any shadow of a doubt lingering around the candour of what we do. Because this was the chosen process for what we do, as well as for who. Transparency in these movements is essential so that Brazilian society may have credibility in what we are doing here. And, in this way, enjoys this celebration we will create.

The rules of compliance are essential tools for this objective and I count on the full commitment of our team in these processes. So that we may take away as a Games legacy the lesson that, here in Brazil, we deliver what we should in a proud and clean way.
