Inaugurated in 2010, the venue is currently undergoing major refurbishment works, scheduled for completion in December 2012. The Vila Manoel José Gomes Tubino has hosted both regional and international sporting events, most notably the 5th CISM Military World Games. Prominent athletes who started their career at this venue include Barbara da Silva Leôncio (2007 world champion in the 200m event - Youth) and Rosângela Santos (gold medallist in the 100m and 4x100m relay at the Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games).
