The Complexo Esportivo do SESI, also known as the Centro Esportivo Bernardo Werner, is headquartered in the city of Blumenau, Santa Catarina state (South Region of Brazil). It provides infrastructure for Football, Athletics, Artistic Gymnastics, Badminton, Volleyball, Basketball, Wheelchair Basketball, Handball, Wheelchair Rugby and Swimming training.

The complex features an environmentally preserved area, own accommodation, social hall with a capacity to receive 1,000 people, sauna and steam rooms, hiking trail and sandy football pitch, entirely available for the leisure and relaxation of accommodated athletes and teams. It also features a strength and conditioning room, areas appropriated for first aid, medical treatment, physiotherapy and massage, private team management offices, meeting and multimedia rooms, a restaurant, café and a sports equipment safekeeping area.

For over 20 years, the Complexo Esportivo do SESI has hosted various sports competitions and has revealed high performance athletes such as Sérgio Vieira Galdino, Josiane Soares, Moacir Zimmermann and João Sendeski (Athletics), Ana Moser (Volleyball), Tiago Splitter (Basketball), Fausto Steinwandter, Fabiana Grippa, Jéssica Quintino, Ana Amorim and Eduarda Amorim (Handball), Júlia Volkman and Beatriz Hasckel (Swimming).

Experience in sporting events:

The venue is experienced in hosting Brazilian and international sporting events, as well as hosting teams of different sports that are in training. Among the more recent competitions held at the site, the most notable was the IWBF U23 World Championships (Wheelchair Basketball) and the Liga Nacional de Handebol (women’s Brazilian Handball League).

About the city:

Blumenau is one of the most populated cities of Santa Catarina state with a population of 309,011 (IBGE index) and is located 1,057km from the city of Rio de Janeiro. The city holds strong ties with German culture due to the German origins of its founders. The city also boasts of natural attractions such as parks and 900m-high hills, a stark contrast of the city's average altitude of 21m above sea level.
