The Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro is headquartered in the city of Rio de Janeiro, capital of the state of Rio de Janeiro (Southeast Region of Brazil) and will host the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The club offers complete training structure for sailing and is located at Enseada de Botafogo, near airports and major local tourist landmarks.

The venue offers infrastructure for first aid, medical treatment and meeting/briefing areas for delegations, including private rooms for management. The club also provides food services, with restaurants and café, and recreation and leisure areas.

The club was founded more than 90 years ago and its main objective is the development of water sports. The club has hosted national and international sporting events, as well as moulded the careers of high performance athletes.

Experience in sporting events:

For over 90 years, the Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro has hosted numerous regional, national and international events. In recent years, the most notable were the 2010 Star Class World Championship and 2010 Snipe Master World Championship, as well as the 2011 Capetown to Rio and Buenos Aires-Rio Races. A few athlete revelations from this club include Marcos Soares, Eduardo Penido, Daniel Adler, Ronaldo Senfft (soling), Maurício Santa Cruz, Kiko Pellicano, as well as brothers Torben and Lars Grael.

Rio de Janeiro is famous for its naturally beautiful landmarks such as the Corcovado, Sugar Loaf Mountain, Urca Mountain (Morro da Urca), Guanabara Bay (Baía de Guanabara) and Tijuca Forest.
