The Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, located in the city of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais state (Southeast Region of Brazil), is experienced in hosting national and international sporting events. The venue is suitable for Volleyball, Handball, Athletics and Tennis training.

The university's sports complex has a total area of 30,000m², including stands with a seating capacity of 900, an arena with wooden sprung floors, a 400m athletics track with eight lanes, and two tennis courts. The venue offers rooms for strength and conditioning, first aid, medical treatment, physiotherapy and massage. Meeting/briefing and multimedia rooms, a private team management office, a restaurant, a café, and a rest area are also available. The venue has controlled access and security personnel on site.

Experience in sporting events:

Noteworthy sporting events hosted at the venue include the Copa Brasil de Handebol 2011 (2011 Brazilian Handball Cup) and the Superliga de Vôlei 2011 and 2012 (2011 and 2012 Brazilian Volleyball League). The sports complex has also hosted the preparatory training of Brazilian and international Volleyball teams from Japan, Russia and Argentina for the 2011 FIVB Junior World Volleyball Championship, held in Rio de Janeiro.

Prominent athletes born in Juiz de Fora include: Giovane Gávio, two-time Olympic gold medallist in Volleyball (Barcelona 1992 Games and Athens 2004 Games); André Nascimento, gold medallist in the Athens Olympic Games; Márcia Fu, bronze medallist with the Brazilian National Volleyball Team in the 1996 Olympic Games; Ronaldo da Costa, world record holder of the 1998 Berlin Marathon and winner of the 1994 São Silvestre Marathon; Viviany Anderson, bronze medal in the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg and champion of the 1997 Rio de Janeiro and the 1998 São Paulo Marathons, among others.

Juiz de Fora is located in a region known as the Zona da Mata, Minas Gerais state (Southeast Region of Brazil), approximately 180km from Rio de Janeiro. The city sits at an altitude of 678m above sea level and has a population of 516,247 (IBGE index).
