The Núcleo de Desenvolvimento Humano e Econômico Serra is experienced in hosting regional level sporting events, most notably the Jogos Sudeste SESI 2011 (Southeast Regional Games). One of the athletes associated with the venue is Daniel Mendes, bronze medallist in the 400m event at the 2011 Parapan American Games of Guadalajara, Mexico.
