The Búzios Vela Clube was inaugurated in 1999 and is located in the city of Armação dos Búzios, Rio de Janeiro state (Southeast Region of Brazil), and provides infrastructure solely for Sailing training. Currently, it has been used by the Brazilian National team in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The club is situated on a calm beach, with no waves, tidal currents or channels and a constant flow of wind. There is a wide array of training support only 0.5 nautical miles from the club, allowing for two or more training shifts on the same day.
The venue features a physiotherapy and massage room, meeting and briefing room, restaurant, café and a rest area for athletes including sauna and steam rooms. It also features a sports equipment safekeeping area and is available on an exclusive use basis.

Founded by high performance yachtsmen, the Búzios Vela Clube is deeply rooted in hosting international sporting events such as the el Laser 4.7 World Sailing Championship (World Championship in the Laser 4.7 class), the South American Championship in the RSX class, and the Campeonato Brasileiro (Brazilian Championships) in the Laser Standard, Radial and 4.7 classes.
