Inventor Raimundo Silva lit the celebration cauldron in Teresina bringing a close to the Olympic torch relay in the city and in Piauí.

Joel Gomes da Silva is a sociologist and presenter on community journalism programme on radio station Pioneira. Hailing from Maranhão he carried the torch in Teresina, where he has lived for 51 years.

Singer, Patricia Mellody has lived in Rio de Janeiro for 20 years but goes back to her hometown to get inspiration for her music. "I was so flattered. I represent Teresina all around Brazil with my music. Being here with the torch is unforgettable."

Rua Frei Serafim was filled today with various costumed groups ready to welcome the Rio 2016 Olympic torch.

In Teresina, the celebration ceremony for the Olympic torch relay will take place at the Ponte Estaiada Tourist Complex, on the banks of the River Poty. The Olympic flame will also visit the beautiful Lagoas do Norte park. Follow here!
