Rio Grande do Sul is famous for its 'fogo de chão' (fire on the ground) barbecues and on Wednesday the Olympic flame joined forces with this 'gaúcho' tradition' at the farm owned by torchbearer Luiza Portela's grandparents.

Dedicated to keeping alive the 'gaúcho' way of life from the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, members of a traditional group from Vila Block, one of São Sepé's five districts, greeted the Olympic flame on horseback.
