• Wheelchair basketball player Leonardo Sousa took the torch into the Cristavo gym in Patos de Minas. When he’s not shooting for three-pointers, Leonardo works in social projects with people with an impairment and kids.

  • Ninety-year-old Arthur Malta Neto, the last torchbearer of the day, was among the Brazilian troops that fought against Nazism alongside the Allies in World War II. He still practises sports today.

  • Lilyene Pinheiro is a biologist who works as a specialist in the prevention of breast cancer. After her sister was diagnosed with cancer and her mother with Alzheimers, she started do sports as a way to stay motivated.

  • In Patos de Minas, the torch will be taken by boat across Lagoa Grande and carried by wheelchair basketball player Leonardo de Sousa, boomerang champion André Caixeta and BMX rider Natália CZ.
