The Olympic Torch has visited the delta of the River Parnaíba, an idyllic setting that is one of the most celebrated but still unspoiled parts of northeastern Brazil. More than 70 islands in the giant delta provide a sanctuary for Brazilian wildlife.

José Pedro da Ros, or "Zezo", likes rugby so much he founded Parnaíba Rugby club. He is now the coach. This year, rugby is back in the Olympic Games for the first time since 1924. It's growing fast in Brazil and is guaranteed a big audience in Piauí.

We are now leaving Ceará and entering the state of Piauí, the 12th Brazilian state to welcome the Rio 2016 Olympic Torch Relay. Piauí is a mainly undiscovered land of great beauty, especially along its coast and in the national parks in the interior.

The Olympic Torch Relay will be spending its last day in Ceará today and entering into Piauí. Final stop this Thursday is the historic town of Parnaíba, located on the delta of the River Parnaíba. Olympic mascot Vinicius enjoyed a sneak preview.
