    The jubilation of the street party was not the only noise that accompanied the passing of the Olympic torch in Maracaju. Junior Alves, 46, who lives on one of the streets where the torch passed saluted the symbol of the Olympic Games with his blowing horn.

    Torchbearer Gerson Alves Marcondes, 81, a descendent of the city's founders, he entered the Guiness Book of Records in 1997 producing a 31-metre long sausage. An old recipe, it uses beef and orange. "I always worked hard for my city."
