• Cuban doctor Argelio Pupo moved to Brazil three years ago to work in Lagoa Grande. "It was just a job, but it has become one of the biggest experiences of my life," he said. "I have been welcomed so well in Brazil."

  • For farmer João 'Bosco' Araújo, seeing the Olympic flame pass will be an extra special experience. "Tomorrow it is my birthday and this is the best present I've ever had. We'll show the world our tradition of looking after the land and the animals."

  • Lagoa Grande

    The first stop on day 25 of the Olympic torch relay begins in Lagoa Grande, in the state of Pernambuco. The city was named after the freshwater lagoon which used to provide the inhabitants' water supply. To welcome the symbol of the Rio 2016 Games, the entrance to the city was decorated with the Olympic rings. Follow the flame here.
