Moisés Sodré took part in a historic moment as he carried the torch whilst paragliding, a sport which he has practised for 15 years. "I trained for a few days before just to make sure it went well, I'm very happy."

Paragliding pilot Moisés Sodré went up to Ibituruna peak in a helicopter and glided back down, torch in hand, to Feira da Paz. A crew of over 20 pilots performed the jump with the flame. "It's great to do something unprecedented," Moisés said.

Santos Dumont de Governador Valadares School put on a presentation today to welcome the arrival of the torch. Vinícius, who had sprinted ahead of the torch, had already managed to enjoy the choir and band~s performance made up of about 50 students.

Children from the Otávio Soares Ferreira school in Governador Valadares are getting into the Olympic spirit ahead of the visit of the torch relay.

Governador Valadares is one of the world's leading sites for hang gliding and parapenting. Local pilot Moisés Sodré, double Brazilian champion, will be taking the Olympic Torch for an exhilarating flight before landing in the city centre.
