Hundreds of people fill the Praça do Jardim Encantado, which has been decorated especially to serve as the finish line for the torch relay in Floresta Azul. Capaoeirista Elton Guimarães had the honour of being the last torchbearer.

Delighted with the passage of the Olympic torch relay through their home town, the inhabitants of Floresta Azul really went to town to welcome the flame: decorated streets, costumes and even commemorative stamps to remember the Rio 2016 torch.

At the entrance of Bahian municipality, Floresta Azul, young Greek goddesses await the arrival of the Olympic symbol. "We couldn't receive the Olympic flame just anyhow could we?" said 17-year-old Yasmim Marcena.

Floresta Azul
Today's second stop for the Olympic flame is Floresta Azul, the eight destination for the torch in the State of Bahia. Originally not part of the torch relay's itinerary, the city was discovered by organisers whilst travelling on a long a small country road, on their way to Ilhéus, that caught their attention. Arriving in Floresta, the natural charm of the city and its inhabitants made it an obligatory stop for the torch relay. Stay tuned!
