• The town of Capim Grosso went all out to celebrate the arrival of the torch. At the last stop of the relay, local musicians Afro Som performed for a crowd of some 30,000 people.

  • Being eight months pregnant didn't stop Raquel Ribeiro from lighting and carrying the torch with aplomb.

  • João Roberto Pereira came to see the Olympic Torch on his 4-year-old ox Tornado. A whole convoy of oxen greeted the passing of the relay in Capim Grosso.

  • Samba group Sinfonia de Pandeiro from the small town of Bento Simões travelled to Capim Grosso especially to welcome the torch relay.

  • Whilst waiting for the torch, Vinícius, mascot of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, bumped into his "twin brother" in the streets of Capim Grosso.
