Five-time Brazilian taekwondo champion and silver-medallist at the 1999 Pan American Games, Soraia de Faria is today a businesswoman and supports a project that works with disadvantaged kids. "I carried the Pan torch but this is a different joy."

Before being a runner and winning gold at the 1999 Pan American games, Elenilson Silva was a cattle herder in Bonito, where he carried the Olympic flame in Gruta Azul. "Its a special moment, such a beautiful place to crown my career," he said.

João Vizcaino, who has down syndrome, is a beloved citizen of Bonito. The sports-lover plays football and was overjoyed to be chosen to carry the Olympic torch. The city's band saluted the Olympic flame and played a tribute to young João.

Bonito
The Olympic torch makes a special visit to Bonito, an ecotourism hotspot in the region with attractions such as its natural pools and the Gruta Azul (Blue Cave). After its trip, the torch returns to Campo Grande.

In Campo Grande, the torch celebration ceremony will take place at the Park of Indigenous Nations, a sport and leisure area, with native vegetations and a lake, on which the Olympic torch will be carried aboard a canoe.
