In athletics, Josenir Silva discovered a reason not to lose hope after losing his sight due to a tumour in the brain. On the athletics tracks he racks up victory after victory and today he carries the Olympic torch with his running guide.

Francisco Sousa left Aquiraz to study, but came back to this small rural town in Ceará state with a project that supports farming families in the region.

This clown from the state of Ceará, who goes by the name of "Tutu," has come to Aquiraz from his home town of Fortaleza, complete with his own home-made Olympic torch.
