Catira is a traditional dance that originated with the indigenous population. Only men perform, doing a kind of line dance with lots of clapping to the tune of an acoustic guitar. This troupe in Aparecida de Goiânia put on a show for the torch.

Internationally renowned artist Siron Franco was born in Cidade de Goiás but carried the torch in Aparecida de Goiânia. The painter and sculptor is known for his works that deal with social and indigenous issues.
