World Urban Forum V to open a cycle of large international until Rio 2016 games

Held for the first time in Latin America, the World Urban Forum V, organized by UN-HABITAT opens in Rio a series of large international events until Rio 2016 Games.
Until the Games, besides the World Urban Forum V, Rio will also host the Military World Games, in 2011; Rio+20 a an environmental forum sponsored by the United Nations, in 2012; FIFA Confederations Cup 2013 and the FIFA World Cup, in 2014.
During the World Urban Forum the warehouses existing in the area of the Port of Rio de Janeiro, which is now is now the target of the largest of citys urbanization and accessibility projects targeting Rio 2016 Games, will be used by 15 thousand people, from 160 countries. The discussion of proposals for the city of the future will be the main focus of the debates to be attended by politicians, NGOs and engineering, architecture and urbanism organizations.
The president of Rio 2016 Carlos Arthur Nuzman was extremely positive about the event. Rio de Janeiro started to work to transform the city. The Urban Forum will enable us to exchange experiences and get the best urbanism and life quality ideas from all over the world.
The prior editions of the World Urban Forum were held in Nairobi, in Kenya; Barcelona, Spain; Vancouver, Canada and Nanjig, in China.
