Ever wondered what it’s like to speed around an Olympic BMX track alongside some of the best competitors in the world? Well, now you can find out, thanks to Renato Rezende, Brazil’s top BMX cyclist.
Rezende took the bronze medal at Sunday’s test event on the newly built course at the Olympic BMX Centre, where he competed with a tiny camera attached to his helmet. The result is this high-octane video that he posted on his Facebook profile:
ValeeeeuHere's the video of yesterday's quarterfinals at the official track of the Olympic Games Rio 2016.In the practice in the morning we got to ride at the women section, but as you can see in the video, we rided through the girl's second and third straights at the competition. The changes that have been made made a better and safest men section, but it wasn't 100% ready to ride. Some adjustments will still be made for next year and I am pretty sure that the track will be perfect. The rain started just a couple of minutes after this lap, but mine was the third fastest one so far in the competition, and so I won the bronze medal.I hope you enjoy the footage.Good week to you all!

The course – designed by American Tom Ritzenthaler, who also created the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic tracks – will undergo modifications before next year’s Games. Rio 2016 and the International Cycling Union (UCI) will work together to make the final adjustments, and Rezende, who is ranked 13th in the world, is confident the outcome will be positive.
“Some adjustments will still be made for next year and I am pretty sure that the track will be perfect,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
