Fans from all over the world are planning to attend the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, the first to be staged in South America. With the competition schedule published and tickets on sale, it is time to start planning.

The Games pack the equivalent of 42 world championships into 17 days of competition, bringing 10,500 athletes to the host city. To help fans put together their schedules, rio2016.com will publish a series of articles highlighting the main attractions of each day across the four Games zones.
