Ona Carbonell, two-time Olympic silver medallist
The description above says it all. Carbonell, Spain's most succesful synchronised swimmer, won the duets title at this week’s Olympic Games qualifier, which is doubling up as the Rio 2016 test event, alongside veteran Gemma Mengual. The duo’s performance had a flamenco theme, while other competitors incorporated rock, pop and classical music. As ever, the costumes and make-up were impeccable, and the athleticism and grace of the performances was breathtaking.
