Rio 2016 smashes Paralympic Games record: 145,000 tickets sold on Wednesday

Ticket sales for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games have hit a new daily record. On Wednesday (24) August, more than 145,000 tickets were sold, comfortably beating the previous high of 133,000 achieved on Tuesday.
"It is very encouraging that another sales record has been broken yesterday with 145,000 tickets sold in a single day," Donovan Ferreti, director of tickets at the Rio 2016 organising committee, said on Thursday.
"Paralympic athletes know no limits, and the passion and energy generated by fans in the stadiums will inspire them to even greater achievements,"
So far, about 800,000 tickets have been sold of the total 2.5 million tickets available.

Tickets have already been sold out for Paralympic finals in swimming and wheelchair basketball. There has also been high demand for tickets for 5-a-side football, judo and track cycling.
Demand has been especially strong for weekend events.
Sports for which there are still high numbers of tickets available include goalball, boccia and wheelchair tennis.

Prices for tickets range from 10 reais (about US$3) to 130 reais.
"Now is the moment to buy your tickets and be part of history by showing your support for these sporting heroes in the first ever Paralympic Games in South America," Ferreti said.
