Rio 2016 receives the visit of the British Olympic Association
By Rio 2016
British Olympic Association (BOA) representatives have visited the main Office of the Rio 2016 Games Organizing Committee to follow the development of the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Project. Director of Elite Performance, Clive Woodward; Executive Director, Jan Paterson and Operations Director, Mark England were welcomed by Rio 2016 Sports Director, Agberto Guimarães; and Operations Director, Mário Cilenti.
Besides the BOA group, also visiting the Rio 2016 Committee office were representatives from the British federations of five sports: judo, basketball, rowing, canoeing and sailing. Agberto Guimarães gave a presentation on the Sports Department work plan for the next months and Mário Cilenti detailed the Rio 2016 project. It was the first time we received such a big group of sports federation representatives after the Rio de Janeiro victory, and the meeting was worthwhile. They are now going to make more specific questions and study the options for training venues, explained Agberto.
With two days of visit, Mark England praised the structure and running of the Rio 2016 Committee. I was impressed with the team readiness, since there is still quite a long time to the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. We have no negative points to highlight, and we are taking with us excellent memories. For the sports federation representatives it was also an important event. The Rio 2016 Committee showed willingness to develop a work in partnership and is going to cooperate with us in the coming years, explained Mark England.
