Meeting with IOC representatives is held less than 24 hours after host city announcement
Less than 24 hours after Rio de Janeiro was chosen as the host city for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the citys work has begun. Today the president of the Rio 2016 Games Organizing Committee, Carlos Arthur Nuzman, Rio 2016 secretary general, Carlos Roberto Osório, and the bids communications and marketing director, Leonardo Gryner, met with IOC representatives in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Carlos Arthur Nuzman revealed the IOCs first recommendation. They said: relax! But we know that this period of rest will end after the first meeting we will have in Rio de Janeiro, probably in mid-November, explained Nuzman. Over the next few days, we will meet with representatives of the three levels of government to define our next steps.
Before the meeting with IOC members, Nuzman met with representatives of US television network NBC. We went to present Rio de Janeiros plans and to find out how we can meet TVs needs. They thanked us and said that Rio de Janeiros final presentation was the best one made by a candidate city in all time, said Nuzman.
As part of the Rio 2016 Organizing Committees schedule, in February 2010 around ten observers will travel to Vancouver to accompany the Winter Olympic Games. The first visit of the Rio 2016 Games Coordination Commission, to be created by the IOC, is expected to take place in August 2010.
