The shop at Rio’s domestic airport, Santos Dumont, is now open (Rio 2016)
Rio 2016 has opened two more official merchandise stores in the domestic airports of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Brazil’s largest city. They follow May’s opening of a shop at Rio’s Galeão-Tom Jobim International Airport, where another store will be opened in September.
The organising committee will also open three official stores at São Paulo’s international airport, known as Guarulhos, in September, and a second one at Congonhas, São Paulo’s domestic airport.
The new stores at Congonhas and Rio’s Santos Dumont domestic airport were inaugurated on Tuesday (18 August). The Congonhas shop is located in the walkway between the check-in area and food court. The Santos Dumont store is situated on the second floor, before the entrance to the departures area. The stores are operated by Dufry, which runs the unit at Rio’s Galeão-Tom Jobim International Airport.

Among the items on sale at the stores are dolls of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games mascots – Vinicius and Tom – pin badges, mugs, magnets, towels, shirts, jackets, hats, beach towels, dresses, rucksacks and bags.
By 2016, about 8,000 official Rio 2016 products will be available, with the expectation that these items will generate around R$1bn (US$288.8 million) in Brazilian retail sales. Merchandise will be available at 150 official Rio 2016 stores and at more than 40,000 sales points across Brazil.
