Companies interested in designing the Olympic and Paralympic torches have until 30 May to register online
The selection process to design the Olympic and Paralympic torches for the Rio 2016 Games has begun. Companies interested in this opportunity have until 30 May to register online. One of the most traditional icons of the Games, the torches will synthesise Brazilian culture and identity while acknowledging the history of the Olympic and Paralympic movements.
The selection process is open to any company or consortium of companies experienced in designing and delivering products. These companies must have design, engineering or architecture services clearly stated in their corporate objectives, among other activities of this nature. Foreign companies should be in a consortium with one or more Brazilian companies and have representatives or legal representation in Brazil. Independent contractors (self-employed) will also need to be contracted by a Brazilian company.
Registrations are now being received at theĀ Rio 2016 Suppliers Portal. Organisations which are not pre-registered will need to fill in their details before registering for the torch design process. Companies that have registered correctly will receive complete Terms and Conditions in June 2014.
