The success of the Rio 2007 Pan American Games was emphasized in the report prepared by the vice-president of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) for the Americas, Julio Maglione. The organization of the Games was excellent. The work of the Organizing Committee, Brazilian Olympic Committee and three governmental levels was fully approved by the Games participants, the press and the Pan American Sports Organization, points out the document, presented in Beijing during the XVI ANOC General Assembly.
The level of the competitions and the doping control carried out during the Rio 2007 were also praised. The quality of the competitions exceeded that of past editions, with 123 new Pan American records, and 11 International Federations used the Rio 2007 Pan American Games as a qualifying event for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Another highlight in the report was the opening and closing ceremonies, which were turned into great popular celebrations, combining sports and culture with universal identity values of the peoples of America.
