Rios election to host 2016 Olympic Games is a key growth driver
A survey conducted by the National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES) revealed that R$ 274 billion will be in invested in infrastructure projects, in Brazil, between 2010 and 2013. Compared to a previous survey conducted between 2005 and 2008, the amount of infrastructure investments increased by 37.3%. The election of Rio de Janeiro to host 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games appears as one the key growth drivers.
The energy and telecommunication sectors are leading the investment forecasts, with R$ 92 billion and R$ 67 billion, respectively. The survey shows that the port sector should have the highest investment growth rate, spiking up from R$ 5 billion to R$ 14 billion.
