Federal Government Investments contribute to Rio de Janeiro Candidature to host the 2016 Olympic Games

The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, launched Friday, March 7, in Rio de Janeiro, various works as part of the Plan for Growth Acceleration (PAC). Lula visited the Complexo do Alemão, Manguinhos and Rocinha, sites that will be given priority in the City development plans. Work will begin next Monday, March 10, and will mean an investment of US$ 670 million in urban infrastructure in areas of social interest for Rio de Janeiro. The PAC is an investment for the development, education, health, sport and leisure for the cariocas, people of Rio Janeiro, declared President Lula.
The Federal Government investments come to Rio de Janeiro when the City is bidding to host the 2016 Olympic Games. Rio de Janeiro will undergo an authentic revolution with new constructions that will be implemented as part of the Plan for Growth Acceleration and for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. With the commitment of the three levels of Government, Federal, State and City, and the experience gained with the organization XV Pan American Games, Rio de Janeiro gives authentic demonstrations that the City is actively getting prepared to welcome the Olympic Games and to captivate the world with an unforgettable celebration for the whole Olympic Movement, affirmed Carlos Arthur Nuzman, President of Brazilian Olympic Committee.
