The Opening Ceremony of the Pan American Games Rio 2007 has just won six Telly Awards, which was founded in 1978, in the United States, to promote visual arts inspiration and creativity. Rio 2007 won the silver statuette of the Live TV Broadcast Events, TV Sport Events and Sport Video categories. The opening ceremony was also awarded the bronze statuette granted to TV Entertainment, Video Entertainment and Live Event Video categories. Last year Rio 2007 opening ceremony had already received the SportBusiness ISEMS (International Sports Event Management and Security) award as the best sporting event ceremony in the last 18 months.
Rio 2007 Opening Ceremony could also win other important awards. The event is in the race for nine categories of American TV Oscar Emmy awards, including Costume Design, Art Direction and Best Song. The list of nominees will be issued by the Academy early in May and the winners will be announced on June 15, in Los Angeles.
