Casa Brasil was the stage for an exciting meeting organised for the athletes of the Vivência Olímpica Project Jéssica Reis, Bernardo Oliveira and Lais Nunes. Last Tuesday, during the visit of the athletes who will make their debut in the Olympic Games to the Brazilian space in London, gold medallist in artistic gymnastics Arthur Zanetti was also at Somerset House, where Casa Brasil is located.
The enthusiasm of the new athletes, who saw their photos at the “Passion and Transformation” exhibition before the meeting with the first Olympic champion in Brazilian artistic gymnastics, was visible.
Jéssica Reis is preparing to compete in the long jump discipline in 2016, while Lais and Bernardo are training to defend Brazil in the Olympic wrestling and archery disciplines, respectively.
Zanetti commented on the objectives of Brazilian gymnastics, and added that he plans to compete for medals at Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016.
"For 2016, the objective is to get all members of the artistic gymnastics team classified in order to reach for the top finals and win medals. I will be there for sure", said the 22-year old gymnast.
The Vivência Olímpica project, promoted by the Olympic Brazilian Committee, is destined to youths with a track record of results in the basic categories, in some cases even in the adult category, who show potential for growth until Rio 2016™ Olympic Games. The project is only targeted at athletes who compete individually or in doubles.
