Want to see what the main Rio 2016 Olympic Park looks like? A new video, shot by drone, takes you above and around Barra Olympic Park, the heart of the Games, even showing the inside of some of the newly constructed arenas.

Barra Olympic Park 97 per cent ready

The video (below), released by the Rio City Government, which is responsible for the construction works, shows the seven new venues that have been built at the main venue cluster: Carioca Arenas 1, 2 and 3; the Rio Olympic Velodrome; Olympic Tennis Centre; Future Arena; and the Olympic Aquatics Stadium. There are also two existing venues in the park: the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre and Rio Olympic Arena.

After the Games, the park will leave an important sporting, social and educational legacy to Rio, with facilities for high-performance sport, community use, a special Olympic high school and venues that can host major international events. The Future Arena, which will host handball and goalball during the Olympic and Paralympic Games, will be deconstructed and its parts used to build four public schools in the Rio. The Olympic Aquatics Stadium will also be dismounted and its parts used to build two swimming facilities in other parts of Brazil.

The video also shows the Main Press Centre (MPC) and International Broadcast Centre (IBC), the latter of which will be transformed into commercial buildings and accommodation for athletes using the legacy facilties, the city government said.
