The Olympic spirit has reached Rio’s fashion. Three months after the election to host 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the city is launching its calendar of fashion shows on Monday, January 8, starting with Fashion Rio, whose central theme will be “Rio, Olympic and wonderful”. The event will be staged at Píer Mauá, to present 27 designer brands counting on the participation of international top models.

Besides launching winter fashion collections, the event will offer a photo exhibit entitled Today Plus Seven”. The photographs will show how several “Cariocas” are getting ready to welcome 2016 Olympic Games and among them are mayor Eduardo Paes, the president of Rio 2016 Organizing Committee Carlos Arthur Nuzman, athletes and fashion designers. “Along the next seven years we will be working to make sure the first Olympic and Paralympic Games in South America will be able to provide an unforgettable experience to all participants”, Carlos Arthur Nuzman said.

The Fashion Rio also will feature a business hall, the Rio à Porter, where 169 exhibitors will meet with 450 buyers from countries like the United States, Portugal, Spain, United Arab Emirates and Japan.
