Public will be able to track project actions step by step
Actions taken by City Hall in preparation for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be fully disclosed step by step on the Olympic Transparency site (transparenciaolimpica.com.br), launched this Thursday 8 October by city mayor Eduardo Paes. The event was held at the Palácio da Cidade, and attended by the Rio 2016 Committee General Secretary, Carlos Roberto Osório, Municipal Financial Controler, Vinícius Costa, and Municipal Attorney General, Fernando Dionísio.
The site is to be used for publishing Rios proposals regarding aspects such as transport, sporting venues and the environment. The information provided for each project linked to City Hall will include a basic description, the amount of money invested and forecast startup and completion dates. This site shows how City Hall will deal with issues relating to the 2016 Olympics. People need to be able to understand the process in its entirety, ruling out incomplete disclosure. Thats how we intend to work at City Hall, said Eduardo Paes.
Carlos Roberto Osório stressed the importance of the new site. Organizing the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a huge and important job. People want to know whats going on, and have every right to know. The Rio 2016 Committee will handle all the issues involved with propriety and transparency, said the Rio 2016 Committee General Secretary.
