Trunk line bus service becomes operational in the West Zone of the host-city of the 2016 Games
The BRT Transoeste dedicated trunk line bus lane, a breakthrough in the Rio de Janeiro transportation system, became operational last Wednesday, 6 June 2012. With more than four years to go until the start of the Rio 2016™ Olympic Games, the urban infrastructure legacy began to take shape, reducing travel time and improving the quality of life of cariocas.
The still experimental line with operating hours from 10.00 to 15.00 is going to connect the district of Santa Cruz in the west side of the city to Barra da Tijuca, where the Olympic Park will be located. Its fleet has 11 vehicles with capacity to carry 140 comfortably.
