When the archer met the ‘sambista’ at the Rio 2016 test event...

Some of the best archers in the world took part in the Rio 2016 test event at the Sambódromo, the home of Rio carnival, last month. The eight-day event featured 120 athletes from 28 countries.

Among them was Brazil’s Bernardo Oliveira and during a break from training and competition, the 22-year-old met another character who performs to the highest level of his vocation at the same venue – sambista Carlos Henrique Roque da Silva.

The 19-year-old plays tambourine in the rhythm section of the famous Estácio de Sá samba school, which has taken part in the Carnival Parade since 1927.
