Rio 2016™ Olympic and Paralympic Organising Committee organised last Tuesday morning at Somerset House, in London, the second meeting with representatives of the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees.
The officers of the Olympic and Paralympic Committees of European and African countries which attended the event had the opportunity to know the project updates and received from Rio 2016™ the Rio 2016™ Pre-Games Training Camps Guide. The Olympic Committees of Asia, Oceania and Americas received the material at the first meeting held Monday 30 July.
The presentations were held by the Sport Director Agberto Guimarães and Mario Cilenti, NOC/NPC Relations and Services Director.
"Rio 2016™ is already in operation, and is ready to host the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees. “These meetings are also part of the Games delivery and a crucialtool to develop a solidrelationship between the Organising Committee and the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees", saidMario Cilenti.
In addition to the Rio 2016™ Pre-Games Training Camps Guides, the participants also received promotional material sent by the local authorities selected to take part in the Pre-Games training programme.
During the meetings, Rio Exchange, an exclusive extranet platform for information exchange between the representatives of Rio 2016™ and the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees, was launched.
The secretary general of the Albania National Olympic Committee, Stavri Bello, commented that Rio is going in the right direction to offer the world a great show.
"The presentation was wonderful, and we expect great Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The preparation is perfect and people are very pleasant", he affirmed.
As an online tool, Rio 2016™ Pre-Games Training Camps Guide may undergo updates until 2016, thereby allowing to extend the benefits brought about the Olympic Games to new venues which failed to accomplish all stages of the registration and selection process. The CONs representatives also received brochures describing each Brazilian region.
