Rugby sevens carnival arrived at Rio 2016 as Brazil was given first taste of international rugby

Rugby tradition dictates that it is not only the players who must bring their A-game. Supporters too, are expected to put in a performance from the stands by singing at the top of their lungs, playfully jeering the other fans, and more importantly, dressing up in silly costumes.

Pumas, teenage mutant ninja turtles, wigs and body paint, were all part of the fun on display at the Rio 2016 rugby sevens tournament at the Deodoro Stadium. Fiji won gold on the pitch, but the fans made the spectacle what it was.
