Usain Bolt playing cricket? Michael Phelps swimming backwards? Iouri Podladtchikov swapping his snowboard for a skateboard? It must be Olympic Day!
On Monday 23 June, Olympic Day will be celebrated around the world: hundreds of thousands of people – young and old – will participate in sports activities, exhibitions, music concerts and educational seminars. You can see where what’s happening near you with this world map of events, produced by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The IOC also brought together some of the world’s best athletes in the video below, to help inspire you to get off the sofa and get active – and try something new.
Olympic Day, which is held to commemorate the birth of the Modern Olympic Games on 23 June 1894 in Paris, also seeks to promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.
Get involved, and share your photos and videos on social media, with the hashtag #olympicday.
