Two days before the opening ceremony, party atmosphere sweeps Olympic Village

With two days before the opening ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, a party atmosphere is sweeping through the Olympic Village.

Another 384 athletes and 404 technical officials arrived on Wednesday (3 August), taking the total number of guests in the village to 11,409, of which 3,905 are athletes.

The large majority of the 206 nations are now represented at the village, a complex of 31 buildings that contain 3,604 apartments. At peak time it will be home to more than 17,000 guests.

Situated in the neighbourhood of Barra da Tijuca, close to Barra Olympic Park, the village has a floor space of 2,000 square metres, with a gym located at its epicentre.
