The Olympic Torch has journeyed through seven states of Brazil, passing by 114 towns and cities and a jaw-dropping variety of landscapes. Every day, Rio2016.com has been publishing a short highlights video. Here are some of the best:
Country music stars Zezé Di Camargo and Luciano received a rapturous welcome when the relay visited their home town of Pirenópolis. The same day, the torch went walking through the tree-tops, rose into the sky in a hot air balloon, participated in a local festival and even met a giant-sized version of itself.
The historical towns of Minas Gerais are home to some of Brazil's most charming colonial architecture. Inhotim in the same state is a Mecca for lovers of contemporary art around the world.
On the coast of Bahia, the Olympic Torch had the privilege of being carried by Raonia Vieira, a member of the pataxó people who is also an indigenous games champion.
Day 20: Itacaré, Camumu, Ituberá, Morro de São Paulo and Valença
On this day, the torch went down a zipline into the sea, was carried on a jet ski and was borne by two people who make all the difference in the communities where they live: teacher Itamar de Oliveira in Itacaré and capoeira master Gegê in Valença: both memorable examples of the power of education to transform lives.
One of the stand-out images of the first month was that of the Olympic Torch held aloft in the breathtaking landscape of the Chapada Diamantina in Bahia.
In northeastern Brazil, the enthusiasm of crowds and torchbearers has been infectious, even during heavy rainfall. If crowds get so excited by just a glimpse of the torch, the atmosphere in Rio de Janeiro should be quite something.
Day 29: Gravatá, Jaboatão dos Guararapes and Recife
Women were in the spotlight earlier this week. Actress Fabiana Karla, pentathlete Yane Marques, basketball player Adrianinha and activist Eliane Rodrigues all made it very clear to the world's audience: Brazilian women will be represented in force in the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
