Thomas Bach, president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), visited Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday (14 June), where he discussed with Brazilian authorities the final preparations for the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Accompanied by the president of the Rio 2016 organising commiteee, Carlos Nuzman, Bach spent the Tuesday morning at the Future Arena. The venue will host the handball competition of the Olympic Games and then the goalball matches of the Paralympic Games. Bach and Nuzman met interim President Michel Temer, the interim governor of Rio de Janeiro, Francisco Dornelles, and the city's mayor Eduardo Paes.
"Our aim is together to make these Games a great success. This was the atmosphere of the meeting and this is our commitment. I am even more confident that we will have great Olympic Games," Bach said following the meeting.
