Many hands hold an Olympic medal. Behind the planning of an event of this kind is the dedication of thousands of people, from more than 20 different careers.
Felipe Andrade was chosen among 2,433 candidates for a position on the Technology Department. The variety of profiles caught his attention.
“The number of colleagues from other states and countries is impressive. This place is a world worth knowing. In the future, I think about working for other companies which I deal with at the moment. We are always in contact with suppliers, in meetings, and we end up creating a bond that can be good,” he says.
The opportunity to liaise professionally also attracted Paula Richaid, Client Relations Analyst. She left her job when she found out that she had been selected among 2,170 candidates, and has no regrets.
“The highlight of my position is the networking. Until 2016, we will liaise with companies from all over the world. It will be a unique opportunity to deal with so many different people. My job is very dynamic, there is no routine and this is very motivating,” she says.
Many opportunities in 2013
Engineer Fernanda Tigre got the third most competitive spot at the Organising Committee. There were 2,093 applicants for the Project Specialist position, which deals with the Games’ planning.
“Deliver a project so huge as the Olympic and Paralympic Games, that involves so many people and resources, is motivating. Our area gives us a panoramic view of everything that is going on, which is pretty good,” she explains.
In 2013, there will be many opportunities to be part of the Olympic project. More than 223 people will be hired until July, a 60 percent raise. Until 2016, the Committee will have 4,000 employees, more than 100,000 if adding collaborators and volunteers.
According to Eloise Brillo, Recruitment Coordinator, the high demand shows how strong the Olympic brand is: “We have a high level of applicants, from assistant to director positions, including a number of international applicants. We have executives who came from multinational companies, which is also a profile we are looking for. It shows that our message as employers is clear. We deal with figures here that few companies have and we would like to attract people with our project,” she explains.
