Rio de Janeiro’s tradition of hosting events, fairs and conferences was reaffirmed this Thursday, 23 March. In ceremonies held at City Hall, mayor, Eduardo Paes and governor, Sérgio Cabral signed an agreement that ensures the Americas’ Fair will run for at least four more years in the city. The event is the largest professional meeting of the tourist industry in Latin America and has annual investment of R$ 600,000

The Americas’ Fair, held in Rio de Janeiro since 2003, brings together hundreds of businesses related to tourism such as operators, airlines, car rental companies, specialist media, hotel chains and theme parks. “Rio de Janeiro is the main gateway for international tourism in the country and has a large number of convention centers. The Americas’ Fair is the second largest on the continent, after the Fair in the United States, and will soon reach the same level as the most important in the world. Hotels and travel agencies are bringing more international investment and tourists. The Americas’ Fair is very important and helps to maintain the city in high esteem," said Sergio Cabral.

This year, the Americas’ Fair takes place from 21st to 23rd October, in Riocentro. An anticipated 30,000 thousand people from 32 countries will visit the event which will have more than a thousand stands. "This fair is very important. Rio has the aptitude to hold such events. The guarantee of hosting the Americas’ Fair for the in the next four years is a great achievement for the city," said Mayor Eduardo Paes.
