Rio de Janeiro to Host the Olympic Games in 2016 – the best news of the year

To Brazilians news that the city of Rio de Janeiro had been elected host city of the Olympic Games in 2016 was the best news of the year, a public opinion survey conducted by Datafolha and published by newspaper Folha de S. Paulo has just revealed. The triumph on October 2 was the positive fact most often recalled in the survey that that did not offer alternatives to respondents, with 4% of the votes.

In the survey where answers were suggested, the most frequently mentioned good news was the fact that Brazil had come out of the economic crisis, selected by 47% of interviewees. But among Cariocas, the news about the Olympic Games got 39% of the votes, surpassing even the end of the crisis, referred to by 35% of respondents in Rio de Janeiro.

The Datafolha survey of 11,250 respondents all over Brazil was conducted from December 14 to 18.
