Rio 2016 takes part in official debriefing of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games

By Rio 2016

Event brings together the Organizing Committees of future Olympic Games and the four candidate cities

Rio de Janeiro’s bid commission for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games is in London for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Knowledge Transfer Conference. The event, which opens today, is a forum for Organizing Committees and Candidate Cities to learn from the experiences of Beijing 2008. The Organizing Committees of the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games will meet with the Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics Committees, and the Committee of the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games. The four Candidate Cities to host the 2016 Olympic Games – Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, Madrid and Chicago – will also be present.

Rio 2016’s delegation in London includes Alexandre Techima, infrastructure director; Vitório Moraes, finance director; Sônia Almeida, sports coordinator; and Denise Afonso, operations coordinator. Rio de Janeiro’s state secretary for tourism, sports and leisure, Márcia Lins, is also attending the conference.
