Rio 2016 Snapchat welcomes athletes and global audience

Barra Olympic Park, the heart of the Rio 2016 Games

Since the beginning of May, the Rio 2016 Snapchat has accompanied the Olympic Torch Relay all across Brazil. Now, just four days ahead of the opening ceremony, the coverage has shifted to introduce all things Rio before rejoining the relay on August 4 and 5 when the flame explores the city itself.

Today’s story covers the journey from the international airport to the Olympic Park, as well as the key icons of the Games, such as the mascots and torch. As the Games get started, the coverage will provide a first-hand look at the feeling and atmosphere of being in Rio de Janeiro every day during the massive celebrations across the city.

Along with everything unexpected, the insider’s perspective of the Rio 2016 story will provide dynamic glimpses of pre-competition festivities, the carioca lifestyle and big-screen viewing parties at the hospitality houses of several nations, and of course, the Olympic Boulevard live-site.
